Six Pack Abs - How Can I Get Them To Show?

You may be getting discouraged, and it’s not surprising, because you have exercised those six pack abdominals regularly, and they are still not showing. What more do I need to do besides crunches to get them developed enough to show as a perfect set of six pack abs?

First of all, you are not the only one that this has happened to, there are a lot of people in this boat, so don’t give up yet, and with a few adjustments, your abdominals and six pack will be defined very soon. Despite our best intentions, which can be seen by the number of crunches we do daily, not every one can get their abdominals to show. You feel that your abs are much stronger, but they still don’t show, so what exactly is happening? Well, first of all you need to to make absolutely sure that it is your abdominal muscles that you are targeting in your exercises, an also check that you are not rushing them. For many workout enthusiasts, it is the number they can do in a fixed time that is what matters, but that lowers the level of the exercise. To benefit more, you need to hold each contraction of the abs for a few seconds, and if you are rushing to beat the latest record of number of the crunches in two minutes, then you are not able to do this, and the exercises will not be as beneficial for you. So slow the exercises you are doing, and improve the quality of your exercises, and any other workouts you do that target the abdominal muscles.

The next thing you need to do is to find out what your body fat ratio is - you will be able to do this on the weighing machines at the gym if your bathroom scales don’t tell you. Your body fat ratio should be around 12, but if your ratio is much higher than this, then that confirms why your 6 pack abdominals are not defined. The body fat ratio is a guide to inform you how much body fat you have, and the higher the number, the more fat you have. The more fat you have, the more layers of fat are covering your abs muscles, so provided you have been doing your exercises the right way, your abs will be well defined but just hidden by too much fat.

Okay, if too much is the cause of your abs to not be defined as great 6 pack abs what are your options? You obviously need to lose some of those fat from your body, and abdominal exercises alone will not achieve this for you. You must do some cardio exercises, to lose some weight. Now this doesn’t automatically mean that you have to workout even longer in the gym daily. You can probably spend less time on your abs crunches, with more time doing cardio. Combine this with eating a little less, you will be able to to losing some fat. Make sure you are eating a healthy diet, and not over doing the alcohol. The occasional drink is fine, but drinking alcohol on a regular basis is just providing your body with too many unneccessary calories.

So, to summarize, exercise appropriately, lower your body fat ratio and your 6 pack abs will be defined and showing like those on others you’ve been jealously watching.

Six Pack Abs Women

Gest article written by:

Taylor McDonald, womens fitness trainer

With my personal fitness training, one thing I get asked alot is ‘how can women get a 6 pack?’ Many women try, and fail. Yes, its genetically harder for a lady to get good abs, but its certainly not impossible. With the right approach you can do it easily.

Ive always found that women who want to achieve a 6 pack, tend to be serious about their goals and their training. Its not often that a women whos after a 6 pack, hasnt spent considerable time and effort on their body already. One of the reasons I really love to train people like this, is that they know how serious about their goals they are!

Notwithstanding the fact that those who read this will be beyond beginner level. There is certainly many beginners who I deal with that want a 6 pack. Often its the only objective! My first statement to them, is they have to be ready to change their lifestyle, and work hard! Its really valuable to realise the rewards from doing it, and you’ll be rapt with your results when you reach your goals.

So, how to go about getting six packs abs in women? Is the approach different to men? Is it even possible?

Youve gotta bet! All it takes is a slightly different approach, but I myself have assisted lots of females over my career, to get 6 packs. Lets take a look at my top ideas for ripping up those abs:

Women dont have the same propencity to build muscle, due to a lack of testosterone to pack on dense muscle. This just means that a shift in training focus, and a change in the diet is all thats required to stimulate muscle growth.

As with any training goal, one of the fundamentals is not only push the desired muscles, but to reduce the fat layer that covers over the stomach. This has the effect of exposing the abdominals underneath. When you reach this level, that awesome 6 pack abdominal look is totally yours.

The best way to get rid of this fat layer, is a cardio method, focusing on the areas that you want to tone. One thing that I say to female clients, is to start pump or circuit training, as this is one of the great, fast ways to burn through flab.

Not only are they fun, they utilise the core for nearly all the actions involved. Sign up to your gym whenever you can, or else get hold of some at home ‘fitness workout’ DVD’s and try the class in your lounge.

All the best,

How to Get a 6 Pack

What most people do not realize is that learning how to get a 6 pack is really not that hard.
The problem that everyone seems to have is that they put all of their focus into the wrong areas. As an example of one important area let’s take lower abs exercises.
The result in the end is that they have nothing to show for all their money and time invested.
Take the advice here about how to get a 6 pack the right way and you’ll finally see success.
To begin with, you have to understand that your abdominal muscles lay beneath the surface of whatever fat your stomach and midsection has.
This means that you could build up your abs with the most intense, most effective muscle building exercises you could find, but if you still have a layer of fat over them, guess what?
Right, that means you still can’t see your abs because they are covered with the excess flab.
Therefore, while it is important to target your abdominals through effective training, it’s even more important to get rid of that stubborn fat so that the progress you do make is visible.
This has to be done through two ways, by changing your nutritional program and by burning off extra calories through your workouts.
To effectively change your diet you can try a favorite cutting down strategy that doesn’t require you to go hungry or avoid your favorite foods.
When your workout days come, try to eat as much or as loiilte calories to keep your current weight.
On days you don’t work out, cut that total by 20%. So if you eat 2,500 calories normally, eat that amount every day you hit the gym or perform other rigorous exercise, and shoot for about 2,000 on days you don’t.
If you still aren’t losing weight, you can then reduce every day to the inactive day calorie totals.
Of course learning how to get a 6 pack also incorporates exercising, and as mentioned you will need to burn off a lot of those extra calories in this fashion.
You’re going to have to start doing cardio, or start doing more of it if you already are.
This doesn’t mean you have to hit up the treadmill for hours, it just means you have to be active in other ways besides lifting weights.
When you are lifting weights, you can make tweaks to your program so that you torch more calories in the process.
Lets take an example here - you can include supersets in your training routins, which are two sets of opposite muscle groups such as quadriceps and hamstrings.
This will help you increase your heart and breathing rates to desired levels.
You can also opt to try circuit training for your weightlifting, which will keep your metabolism revving on all cylinders.
Don’t waste any of your money on the latest abs machines you see on TV at 2 in the morning.
Don’t waste hour after hour in the gym working out but not eating right.
Get your diet into check and then compliment that with a workout strategy that will torch calories and build strength. To conclude, using a good six pack abs exercise routing will help you get there.
